Looking out for others

I slept in today, because I couldn’t relax last night, and ended up exhausting myself so that I could finally fall asleep. But that’s okay, because I was supposed to meet a friend only at 2.45pm.

My friend has very recently lost her father. I met her to go do a food rescue. I often go with her, not so much for the food, but for her company. Today, my mission was to just be her listening ear.

I’ve found that when I’m dealing with depression or anxiety, it often helps to focus on other people. Take the attention away from yourself and care for another person instead.

It worked. Both of us left feeling much better after a bad start to the day.
